Common questions

How do I keep my places safe?

Open Settings and tap “Back up now”. That writes one file with every city, place, note, rating and visit, and offers to save it to Files or iCloud Drive. You choose whether photos are included. To bring it back on a new phone, tap Restore and pick the file. A restore only adds what is missing; it never deletes or overwrites what is already there.

I bought Pro but this phone doesn’t show it

Open Settings and tap Restore under TakeMeBack Pro, signed in with the same Apple ID you bought with. Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription, so it stays with your Apple ID forever.

How do I move my places from Google Maps?

Export your saved lists from Google Takeout, which sends you a .csv file for each list. In TakeMeBack, open the Import tab, tap “Open a file”, and pick the .csv. Names, notes and map pins come across.

How do I send someone all my spots?

Open a city and tap the share button. The message lists every place with its address. If they also have TakeMeBack, they can paste that message into their Import tab, or tap the link, and the whole city is added with categories, notes and pins.

What is the “Next time” list?

Each city has two tabs: places you have been, and places you want to get to next time. When you finally make it, tap the tick and the place moves across with a visit logged.

Does TakeMeBack track me?

No. There is no account, no analytics and no advertising, and your places are stored only on your phone. “What’s near me” measures distances on the device; your location is never sent anywhere. The privacy policy lists the few things that do leave the phone.

I lost my phone and had no backup

We are sorry: because nothing is stored on our servers, there is no copy for us to send you. Please set up a backup on your new phone so it cannot happen twice.
